Canopy Bed Frames
Canopy beds have always been my favorite kind of bed. There was this fantastic wrought iron bed that my parents slept in when I was a kid. It wasn’t supposed to be a canopy bed frame, but it was tall enough to drape a canopy over. We made our secret playhouse out of blankets hung over the top of the bed frame when our parents weren’t home. And I have loved canopy bed frames ever since. I can’t get enough of that feeling of snuggling deep into my warm bed, covered and protected from all my worldly stresses and concerns.
Canopy beds now come with a wide variety of different bed frames these days. For my home I chose my personal favorite - the wrought iron bed frame. These frames are elegant and sturdy at the same time. You can easily find a lot of wooden bed frames that are both durable, solid, and stylish. It’s not as easy to bruise yourself running into a wood frame than an iron one; in addition, wooden frames are also lighter and more gentle on your floors. Wooden bed frames don’t hurt quite as much when you run into them, so you may want to consider them if you bump your bed a lot.
When you go out to shop for canopy bed frames, keep the height of the canopy in mind. Everyone has a different opinion when it comes to how tall their canopy should be; in addition, the height of your ceiling will have to factor into that, as well. Some people want a canopy to be as high up as it will go. Others want the intimacy of sleeping in a canopy bed with a much lower canopy. When a canopy bed is too low, I really don’t like it. When there is an insufficient amount of air able to get inside the bed, temperatures can become unbearable. Some people are alright with it, but too me it is claustrophobic. Sometimes if you try out a few styles, you will find one that fits you best.
With so many choices in the stores you might also want to explore antique canopy bed frames. Antique beds add unique appeal to any room. Many generations of a family can enjoy the same wrought iron bed frame or a wooden bed frame. Your local antique shop may have a bed with old fashion charm that will appeal to you much more than a newly manufactured bed.
